Ivan lives in Jakarta, Indonesia and has more than 80 Internazionale shirts in his collection. All shirts are match worn, match issue or player issue.
Why collect Inter Milan shirts?
Honestly, I don’t know, maybe I was born to be an Interista. The first time I saw Inter play I was drawn to the club and, of course, the black and blue stripes of the shirt.
What was the first shirt in your collection?
My first ever Inter shirt was only a replica. It was the 2007/08 home centenary with Ibrahimovic printing. I sold it to fund my first match worn shirt.
The first match worn shirt I acquired was an away shirt from 2004-05 worn by Adriano in the Champions League vs Porto on 15 March 2005. In this shirt the Brazilian striker scored a hat trick to knock out the holders of the tournament. It was a very special victory and I feel lucky to have this shirt in my collection. Adriano cut the sleeves of the shirt for this match, most other players wore long sleeves.
Which is your favourite shirt?
It’s hard to choose but I would have to say my match worn Vieri shirt. He is my favourite Inter player and he seemed to score every game in my favourite era of Serie A.
The shirt was worn by Bobo against Juventus on 04 April 2004 and he scored as Inter won 3-2. The shirt features a PUPI patch, which is Javier Zanetti’s foundation helping children in Argentina. This style of the PUPI patch was only worn in this game and therefore makes it very special and unique amongst my match worn shirt collection. Further to this the shirt is signed by Vieri on the printing.
Are there any other shirts in your collection that have an interesting story?
Yes, other of my favourites is a match shirt worn by Samuel Eto’o in the Final of the Super Coppa Italia vs Lazio on the 8th August 2009. The match was played in the Beijing National Stadium and therefore both teams wore special Chinese language sponsors on the shirt. Eto’o scored in this match so it is the best shirt a collector could find from this particular game. Unfortunately we lost 2-1.
